What playing level were you at when you hit the music scene looking for work? Were you confident in playing all the styles you could, or was it more that you picked it up along the way?

I picked up a lot of experience as the jobs came along, but finding work wasn't that easy. I spent many months off between jobs - and during those periods I thought I was finished in the music business. I would get straight back to serious studying.
